Have you ever wanted to start a visual management board but don’t know where to begin?

Welcome to this TXM Lean minute.

This Lean Minute helps set up a Visual Management Board that can participate

The challenge is provide a workplace meeting team with the framework to critical discussion.

At TXM we have established the Lean Daily Leadership Process to help leader’s setup daily meetings that use the Visual Management Board to standardise the agenda, and in turn the conversation.

The action to take is to show the teams examples of others boards.  People need to understand what they are expected to do and seeing examples is a good way for them to know what to consider.

Then you might ask what is the most important thing to talk about every day.  Often a leader might need to stipulate that Safety and Health are the most important topic.

A good tip is to simply put these headings up on a board and start to hold the daily stand-up meeting.

As the meeting matures you need to ask “What is the biggest things we can control to achieve a good result every day?”

Then slowly introduce more topics over time to make the conversation more robust and getting the team to discuss a range of important process controls that need to be achieved.

Keeping it simple at the start and building the detail over team ensures the right measures get picked by the right people.  This helps ownership of the meeting, which in turn provides individual accountability and pride over the daily result.

So keep it simple, and build detail over time.
