Are we on top of the work today?

Hi, I’m Anthony Clyne.
Welcome to this TXM Lean minute.

This Lean Minute focus is on visual controls in the office, with a particular focus on how the work flows.

The challenge is to achieve the customer satisfaction that is desired by the business leaders.  In the office this is often to ensure that the work flow is visual.

At TXM we use  Value Stream Mapping tool to identify how the work should flow through the office.

Here we can see orders are placed at the back of the queue.  The orders are processed First In, First Out.  In order to achieve the service level agreement target time we need to have no more than 3 in the queue.

The critical numbers are communicated by the coloured tape.

The results are that people are valued for doing their core tasks.  Too often I see core tasks not being completed and the person that is left to complete the tasks is under appreciated.  Here the rail is affectionately called “The Sushi Train”

Pick a simple work flow and visualise the transfer of work in different categories. Make it visual.  This often needs innovation to make it feel right in your work place.

I’m Anthony Clyne.  Thank you for watching this TXM Lean Minute.
